I offer custom private classes. The three biggest benefits to these classes are that they are catered to fit your specific birth needs and preferences, we meet on flexible days and times that are best for you, and your classes are taught in the comfort of your own home. I have three options available based on your birth needs:

Option 1: Childbirth 101
{We meet four times for 2-3 hours each time}
We can cover your choice of the following: VBACs, medicated births, c-sections, unmedicated births, hospitals, birthing centers, or home births. We will also cover breastfeeding and new baby care, the stages of labor, taking care of yourself, how to stay healthy and low risk, how to handle labor contractions, when to go to the hospital and much more. This class is just as much for mom as it is for her partner.

Option 2: Childbirth Advanced Preparation or The Bradley method®
{We meet six times for 2-3 hours each time}
This class is ideal for couples who want to prepare for an unmedicated birth. You can choose from The Bradley Method® or a childbirth class catered to fit your needs as mentioned in option 1. This option has less homework than option 1 with the exception of breastfeeding and new baby care. Topics will be covered in more detail.

Option 3: Childbirth Advanced Preparation or The Bradley method® PLUS Breastfeeding and New Baby Care
{We meet seven times for 2-3 hours each time}
This class includes everything in Option 2 plus an additional class on breastfeeding and new baby care.

NOTE: I accept FSA and HSA cards. Feel fee to ask me about it!
(I also give receipts for reimbursement from your FSA or HSA account, if you do not have a card.)

Childbirth can be a truly wonderful, exciting and empowering experience. Happy Healthy Babies takes the fear out of birth with relaxation, natural breathing and the help of an amazing birth partner (your coach).

At Happy Healthy Babies you will also learn to birth with labor rehearsals, proper nutrition, simple exercises and good communication skills. We will also cover topics such as breastfeeding, new baby care, birth choices, the stages of labor, birth plans and when intervention is needed. Your coach plays a very important role in all of this. Having this support, help and guidance starts your new family off to such a warm and beautiful beginning.

Private classes allow for lots of discussion, questions and personal attention. Also included is 24/7 phone support when you go into labor.

Introduction, Exercises & Nutrition
This first class is where we get to know each other and why we have chosen this path. Questions and concerns are answered and some fears are put to rest. You will learn some basic pregnancy exercises to prepare you for labor, birth and postpartum. We will discuss good nutrition during pregnancy, help you to evaluate your diet and suggest ways to improve it if necessary. This includes nutrition for baby, so we'll start our discussion on breastfeeding too. We will end every class with a relaxation practice. The goal is to keep you healthy and low risk!

Pregnancy & Medication
Our bodies go through many changes during pregnancy. We will cover what they are and how to handle common pregnancy discomforts in a natural way. We will also start discussing your birth choices.

You will also be learning about the different types of medications typically offered to a laboring woman. You will learn the risk and benefits of each as well as when they can be medically necessary. We will also talk about the importance of the coach (birth partner).

Stages of Labor
First stage is your labor. From the first contraction up until you feel the urge to push. We will talk about what to expect physically and emotionally during this stage, when it is time to leave for your birth location and what your coach's role is during this time. Second stage is when you are pushing. You will learn pushing positions and techniques, what to expect physically and emotionally and how your coach will be helping during this time. We will also cover third stage and the golden hours.

Birth Plans
You will learn how do put a clean, easy to read birth plan together. We will be discussing priorities and what your choices are. We will review the stages of labor and ]also have a labor rehearsal!

Potential Complications and Postpartum Preparation
We will cover various complications including cesarean surgery discussing: how to avoid these problems if possible, how to evaluate whether it is necessary to intervene, and how to handle interventions that become necessary. We also cover information on taking care of yourself after your baby is born.

Final Review
This class is all about advanced coaching techniques dealing directly with the challenge of handling first stage labor. We will continue with labor rehearsals and also focus on how to be prepared for the second stage of labor (the pushing stage), third stage of labor (delivering the placenta and those first two golden ours with your baby) and how to take care of yourself for the next couple of months. Coaches will learn how to handle the challenges they will face in labor. Emergency childbirth will be discussed, just-in-case the baby comes before you get where you're going.

Breastfeeding & New Baby Care
Newborn care, mothering, fathering and how to help your baby when they cry are just a few topics will we cover. You will also learn how to get your baby latched, what the breastfeeding holds are and what to expect from your milk supply.
